Description

We are seeking a part-time Driver for Seniors who will support our team with reliable transportation services. We are looking for a dedicated candidate who enjoys the challenges of driving and is comfortable working with small startup organizations. Most of the work is done locally, with flexible hours to accommodate your schedule.

About Us

Re-Imagine Ontario (“The Organization” or “RiO”) is a registered charitable organization whose mission is to improve the health, education, and employment of vulnerable individuals, with particular focus on black youth, through community networks, development opportunities, and family support. The programs we run include both youth and programs for isolated seniors.

The Role

The part-time Driver will play a vital role in supporting RiO’s mission. This individual will work closely with our Program Coordinators and Support Team to ensure the safe and timely transportation of our clients, isolated seniors, to and from medical appointments. Additionally, the driver will assist with other logistical needs of the organization as required.

Job Responsibilities
  • Safely transport our youth and seniors to and from RiO’s various programs and activities.
  • Adhere to a flexible schedule to ensure timely pickups and drop-offs.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Assist with the setup and transportation needs for community events and development opportunities.
  • Help with the delivery and transportation of supplies and equipment necessary for RiO programs.
  • Ensure all passengers adhere to safety regulations, including seat belt use and appropriate behavior during transport.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with Program Coordinators and the Support Team regarding transportation needs and schedules.
  • Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents or maintenance issues.
  • Provide courteous and helpful assistance to elderly clients as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety during transport.
  • Adapt to varying schedules and demands of the organization to support its mission effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Ontario driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Proven experience as a driver, preferably in a role involving the transportation of elderly or vulnerable individuals.
  • Comprehensive understanding and adherence to Ontario driving laws and regulations.
  • Drivers need to have their own car and preferably be a senior.
  • Commitment to following all safety regulations and always ensuring passenger safety.
  • Access to a reliable, well-maintained vehicle suitable for transporting multiple passengers.
  • Ability to assist elderly clients in and out of the vehicle safely.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to interact courteously with clients and coordinate with the Support Team.
  • Time-management skills and reliability to adhere to scheduled pickup and drop-off times.
  • Must pass a vulnerable sector screening check.
  • First Aid Certification: Possession of or willingness to obtain first aid certification is an asset.
